Laurie Morley is in her 14th year at Eastern where she works as the Faculty Athletics Representative. She has also taught numerous physical education undergraduate and graduate courses at EWU. From 2007-10, Morley was the Associate Dean in the College of Arts, Letters and Education at Eastern.
Before coming to Cheney, she worked at Northern State University in South Dakota, where she was an associate professor (1993-2000), head fast-pitch softball coach (1993-97) and the chair of physical education (1995-98).
Morley was awarded the University Meritorious of Service Performance Award in the spring of 2007. She also earned the College of Education CenturyTel Faculty Achievement Award in 2003. She earned two different scholarly awards in 2002, including the Washington Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Higher Education Teacher of the Year (Fall) and the PT3 Certificate of Accomplishment (Spring). Morley has also been on a number of professional committees and has served as both the SDAHPERD President (1999-2000) and the Northwest District AHPERD President (2005-06).
Morley attended California State University at Sacramento and
earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education with an
emphasis in biodynamics. She went on to get her master’s at
Washington State University in 1987. She received her doctorate
from the University of Northern Colorado, in physical education
with emphasis in pedagogy, supervision and curriculum.
Morley currently resides in Spokane.
