Donald Ross is in his seventh year at Eastern as Associate
Director of Athletics/Chief Operating Officer. His responsibilities
include assisting the director of athletics in day to day
operations of the athletic department. He is also accountable for
all aspects of the department budget, compliance operations, hiring
of departmental personnel and overseeing various sports programs.
Ross also has been teaching an athletic management course to
physical education graduate students at Eastern since 2009.
Before his tenure at EWU, Ross worked in two different positions in the athletic department at Seattle University, including Assistant Director of Recreational Sports (2005-2007) and Assistant Athletic Director (2003-2005). From 1994-2003, he was the Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Dayton. He was also an Academic Coordinator at Utah State University (1992-94) and an Academic Counselor at University of Southern California (1989-92).
Ross was the chairperson for the Atlantic-10 Conference Committee in the sports of women’s soccer (2000-03) and women’s softball (1998-2003). He was also the chairperson on the Postgraduate Scholarship Committee for the 2000-01 academic year. From 2010 to present, Ross has been a member of the National Association for Athletic Compliance. He was in the National Association of Academic Advisors from 1992-2003.
Ross attended EWU in the 70’s, getting his
bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis
in organizational behavior and personnel management. He went on to
the University of Southern California and earned his master’s
in physical education with emphasis in sports administration. He
completed his doctorate in that field at USC in 1991.
Ross currently resides in Cheney.
