Nearly 50 silent auction items will be featured at the 27th annual Orland Killin Dinner, Dance & Auction that will take place on Saturday, April 26, at Eastern Washington University.
The items include 13 getaway trips, including four with EWU sports teams to Texas (football), Colorado (football), Oregon (volleyball) and Illinois (men's basketball). Other destinations include South Padre Island in Texas, Phoenix, San Francisco/Napa Valley and Seattle, with some featuring golf and/or professional sports tickets.
In addition, auction items will include various EWU sports gift packs as well as framed photographs. Golf lessons, a learn to ski package, overnight hotel stays, dinners and tickets to area events and sports competitions will also be auctioned off.
Nearly 50 tables have already been sold, and tickets are now $75 each or a table of eight for $600. The event starts with a social hour and the auction at 4:30 p.m., followed by the dinner (6:15 p.m.) and dancing.
The social hour includes all-you-can-eat hors d'oeuvres and seafood appetizers, as well as beverages. Dinner features lobster tail and prime rib.
More information is available at http://goeags.cstv.com/trads/ewas-killin.html and tickets can be obtained by calling 509-359-2463.
Prior to the dinner, the Red-White Spring Football Game takes place at 2 p.m. at Woodward Field. That scrimmage will be the featured event of the four-week spring practice session under first-year head coach Beau Baldwin, who takes over a team that finished 9-4 last fall and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship Subdivision Playoffs.
In addition, Eastern's soccer program will host the annual Eagle Alumni Cup game at noon at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center soccer field. The "Kiss the Cup" competition will be for bragging rights among the 25-30 former players expected to return.
There is no charge to attend either the football game or the soccer game.
The 21st Annual EWU Football Coaches Golf Tournament takes place on Friday, April 25, but is almost sold out already. To find out if space is available, call Coach Chris Hansen at 509-359-2307.
The Killin Dinner, Dance & Auction raises funds for the Orland Killin Academic Scholarship Fund as well as athletic scholarships. It is named in honor of Orland Killin, who along with his wife Bernice helped create the event. Orland was a man immensely dedicated to academics and the integrity of Eastern Washington University, serving as professor, faculty athletic representative and faculty president. He was an Eastern football letter winner in 1941-42.
