Stanford Invitational Final Results
Al Manuel Northwest Dual Meet Final Results

The Eastern Washington University track teams split the squad to compete at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., and the Al Manuel Northwest Dual Meet in Missoula, Mont., Friday (April 1) and Saturday (April 2).
 
The Eagles had five Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship qualifiers at the meet, including Katie Mahoney (steeplechase), Jeremy VanAssche (200), Paula Gil-Echevarria (steeplechase), Sarah Reiter (10,000), and Bridgette Underwood (javelin).
 
Katie Mahoney placed first in her section of the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invite, finishing in a time of  10:10.33. Mahoney's time broke the previous school record set by current teammate Catie Arrigoni in 2014 (10:14.99) at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.
 
Already qualified in the 100 meters, Jeremy VanAssche qualified for the 200 meters with a time of 21.65 at the Stanford Invite.
 
Paula Gil-Echevarria also qualified in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invite, finishing in a time of 10:36.65.
 
Sarah Reiter qualified for the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invite with a time of 33:46.71. Her time was just .7 seconds away from breaking EWU's school record time of 33:46.1 set by Kari McKay in 1992. 
 
Bridgette Underwood qualified for the javelin with a throw of 143-8, placing second overall at the Al Manuel.
 
The Eagles now have 11 athletes qualified for the conference championships which include Kaytlyn Coleman (hammer), Joey Payne (javelin), Joey Day (javelin), Kendra Hamm (heptathlon), Jeremy VanAssche (100/200), Dominique Butler (triple jump), Aaron Cunningham (shot put), Katie Mahoney (3,000 steeplechase), Paula Gil-Echevarria (3,000 steeplechase), Sarah Reiter (10,000), and Bridgette Underwood (javelin).

Erin Clark and Samantha Raines placed first (11-7 3/4) and second (11-1 3/4), respectively in the pole vault at the Al Manuel. 
 
Tierra White placed second in the high jump at the Al Manuel with a height of 5-3.
 
Dominique Butler placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 38-0 1/4 at the Al Manuel.

Joey Payne placed third overall in the javelin at the Stanford Invite with a toss of 200-7.
 
Jeremy VanAssche placed fourth overall in the 100 meters at the Stanford Invite with a time of 10.53.
 
Aaron Brenton placed third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Al Manuel with a time of 9:54.29.
 
Austin Oser placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:59.18 at the Al Manuel.
 
Chez Jackson placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.30 at the Al Manuel.
 
Ammon Auna placed third in the 200 meters at the Al Manuel with a time of 23.35.
 
Jonah Mathews placed second in the 100 meters with a  time of 10.81 at the Al Manuel.

Considering the split squads, with part of the crew at the Stanford Invitational and the rest of the team at Al Manuel, I thought things went pretty well.  Given that the Al Manuel  was dual scored it was great to have two overall event winners with Erin Clark in the pole vault and Erika Lombardo in the 200. Bridgette Underwood had one of the best Al Manuel marks of the day with a conference qualifying 143-8."
 
"Katie Mahoney had the performance of the weekend winning her heat of the 3000 steeplechase with a new school record.  You couldn't ask for a better way to start the outdoor season. Sarah Reiter also ran well in the 10,000 just missing the school record but setting a huge personal record.  Kaytlyn Coleman continues to improve in the hammer, throwing over 190 feet for the first time in her career with a mark of 194-6."
