EWU Cross Country Completes Big Sky Championship

Kaili Keefe had the best finish for an Eagle, placing 13th overall

 Results: Men

Results: Women

The Eastern Washington University cross country teams finished the Big Sky Championships in Ogden, Utah, today (Oct. 28).

The women placed eighth overall with 218 points out of the 12 teams competing. The men finished ninth with 251 points. Northern Arizona swept the competition for the second year in a row, taking first place overall for the men and women.

"It was a tough day out there," head coach Chris Shane said. "Nationally ranked teams and the altitude are a recipe for a brutal race. Our teams went out and competed hard but in the end, we just came up short of what we expected of ourselves. You take the good with the bad in this sport and unfortunately it sometimes doesn't go your way. Credit to the great efforts by many top level runners in our conference, they were just better than us today."

On the women's side, sophomore Kaili Keefe had the best finish, placing 13th overall with a time of 17:55.0 in the 5,000-meter course.

Colton Johnsen was the first Eagle on the men's side to cross the finish line at 25:57.5, placing 37th overall in the 8,000-meter course.

Top Performers
The next Eagle to finish on the women's side was Kari Hamilton, with an 18:22.9 time, good for 34th overall.

Logan Stahl had the next best finish for the men, placing 50th and having a 26:17.4 time.

Colton Johnsen led our men's team again and battled all race. Logan Stahl had a breakout race and really went for it. A couple people back in the standings they showed incredible heart and had fantastic races were: Tommy Dolan and Kaelah Corrigan.
