The Eastern Washington University outdoor track and field team will stay within the state of Washington for its next meet, the Spokane Memorial Meet hosted at Spokane Falls CC on Friday (April 21).
"Following last weekend's high caliber meets in California, the Spokane Memorial is a perfect meet to continue to work on technical adjustments for all the events," said men's head coach
Stan Kerr. "We enjoy competing at SFCC because it allows families and friends to watch our athletes perform."
Friday's competition begins at 3 p.m. Pacific Time with only two events taking place, the hammer throw and 5,000-meter race. The bulk of the meet runs all day Saturday (April 22), beginning at 10:30 a.m. for the field events and 11:30 a.m. for the track portion. The first field event of the day will be the women's shot put, while the women's 4x100-meter relay is the first race.
Last week the Eagles split their squad for three different meets across the Los Angeles area and one meet in Spokane. The weekend's competition was highlighted by seven new additions to EWU's all-time lists. This included the second-best 1,500-meter time of 4:27.87 set by freshman
Kaili Keefe at the Beach Invitational. On the men's team, senior
Trenton Osborn placed second out of 17 competitors in the long jump with a mark of 24-7 1/4. His jump was good enough to rank him fourth in school history.
There are just three more meets in as many weeks until the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship begins on May 10. It will be held on the campus of Sacramento State.
