FULL RESULTS

With only a few weeks left in the regular outdoor season, the Eastern Washington University track and field team completed the OSU High Performance Meet with seven first-place finishes.
 
Senior Jeremy VanAssche highlighted the Eagles by breaking the meet's record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.39, placing first. The previous record was from unattached Joe Morris with a time of 10.40.
 
"This meet was a top example of preparation meets opportunity," men's head coach Stan Kerr said. "One of our distance runners said this meet is magic for them and he's right. Almost every member of the distance crew had a seasonal or lifetime best performance."

"We had some great performances at the Oregon State High Performance Track Meet," women's head coach Marcia Mecklenburg said. "I am really pleased with where are team is at this point. We are less then two weeks out from the Big Sky Championships and I feel that in all event areas we are making headway and continuing to improve."

The Eagles travel to Missoula, Mont., next Friday (May 4) for the Tom Gage Classic before competing at the Outdoor Big Sky Championships in Moscow, Idaho, on May 8-11.
 
Top Performers
Senior Jeremy VanAssche broke the meet's record in the 100 meters with a first-place time of 10.39 which was aided by a wind of 2.5 meters per second. The previous record was from unattached Joe Morris with a time of 10.40 from 2017. This time ranks VanAssche second in the Big Sky behind Tre James from Southern Utah with a time of 10.37.
 
In the field, sophomore Keshun McGee earned first in the long jump and the triple jump with marks of 23-2 3/4 and 50-0 1/2, respectively. The men's 4x100 relay team, consisting of VanAssche, sophomore Dawson Lack, junior Jonah Mathews and freshman Joe Gauthier, also finished first with a time of 41.57, ranking them fifth in the Big Sky.
 
On the women's side, senior Rebecca Tarbert took first in the 100 and 200 meters with times of 11.84 and 24.44, respectively. Both of the times were personal bests for the senior.

In field events, junior Macey Weitz earned first in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-11 3/4.

On individuals: "Once again showing their readiness for the Big Sky Championships by doing what they've been doing all season long, Tim (throws) and Keshun (jumps) performed at high levels in their respective events. Jeremy VanAssche may have been feeding off the magic of this track mentioned by the distance runners in popping off a huge seasonal best in the 100 meters. Our other sprinters and hurdlers also enjoyed the magic by posting several PRs today."

On pole vault: "This week top vault honors go to Macey Weitz who won the vault with a new outdoor personal record. Our vaulter crew was ranked 11th in the nation in the USTFCCCA event rankings last week (if you have four or more athletes competing in an event they add up the top four marks to see where you are ranked in that event). It will be fun to see if they can crack into the top 10 with Macey's PR."

On individuals: "Rebecca Tarbert had another stellar day. She won both the 100 and 200, running personal records in both. She is having an amazing senior year and improvements are happening at the right time of the season. In the throws, Madison Doepker threw personal records for the second week in a row in the javelin and discus. She broke the 140 foot barrier in the discus for the first time and moved up into contention for an NCAA West Regional spot with her throw in the javelin."
