HS: Graduated from Monroe HS in 2015. Despite playing just the first four games of his senior season until suffering a season-ending knee injury, Zimmerman played in the 4A/3A East/West All-State football game at Central Valley High School in Spokane, Wash., on July 3. He completed 7-of-12 passes, and had a 6-yard TD pass just before halftime in the West’s 21-13 win. As a senior in the 2014 season, he helped lead Monroe to a 4-0 start before a knee injury in the fifth game ended his season and required surgery. In those first four games, he was 62-of-103 (60 percent) for 1,032 yards and 13 touchdowns. After he was injured, his brother, Zach, moved from wide receiver to quarterback.
 
Personal: A 4.0 student in high school, Zimmerman is considering majoring in communication studies, with interests in studying broadcasting or sports management. He has a 3.86 grade point average through his first two quarters at EWU. Parents are Robert and Rita Zimmerman.
