2013-14 Track and Field: At the Candy Cane VI,Stearns scored 4,729 points in the heptathlon to rank fifthall-time at Eastern. His best points in the event came from the55-meter dash (700, 7.01), 55-meter hurdles (806, 8.11), and polevault (849, 15-9). At the Ed Jacoby Invite & Multi, he scored4,529 points in the heptathlon. He also set an indoor personal bestof 16-2 3/4 in the pole vault at the meet to rank third all-time atEastern. At the Big Sky Conference Championships, he placed eighthin the pole vault with a jump of 15-5 and 16th in the heptathlonwith 3,687 points. Outdoor: At the Big Sky ConferenceChampionships in Flagstaff, Ariz., Stearns set a new school recordin the pole vault of 16-8 3/4 to place second. Prior to that, hispersonal best in the pole vault was 16-5 1/2 which came at theIdaho Vandal Jamboree. He also had a season best of 6-0 in the highjump at the Duane Hartman Invite in Spokane, Wash.

2012-13: Indoor: Stearns cleared hisseason-best height of 15-9 at the BSC Indoor Championships, placingfifth overall. His best height prior to the conference meet was15-5, which came at the Montana State Open. He won the 55 hurdlesat the Candy Cane Invite, running a personal-best time of 8.10. Healso hit a personal best of 8.72 in the 60 hurdles at the IdahoCollegiate. Outdoor: Stearns broke the 16-foot plateau forthe first time in his career, jumping 16-6 3/4 at the Idaho VandalJamboree to rank fourth in school history. He cleared the bar at16-3 1/2 at the BSC Outdoor Championships, earning him asecond-place finish and all-conference honors. Stearns was selectedto the winter and spring Big Sky All-Academic teams.

2011-12: Indoor:Stearns made a splash in the conference, placing third in the polevault at the BSC Indoor Championships with a personal-best mark of15-11, ranking him third all-time at Eastern. His best mark in thepole vault prior to the championships was 15-2 1/4 at the UW HuskyClassic. His season best of 8.23 in the 55 hurdles came at theCandy Cane Invite. Outdoor: He had a season-best vault of15-5 at the BSC Outdoor Championships, placing him eighth overall.Stearns ran his personal best in the 110 hurdles, clocking a timeof 15.88 at the Idaho Vandal Jamboree. He was selected to thewinter and spring Big Sky All-Academic teams.

High School: Stearns set theNevada 4A Southern Sunset Regional record in the pole vault with ajump of 15-6. He placed third in the pole vault at the 4A NevadaState Championships with a jump of 14-6. The Pahrump Valley HighSchool graduate was also a regional champion in the 110 hurdles andpole vault. He reached the 3A State Championships three times inthe 110 hurdles during his career, placing third his senior year,fourth his freshman year and sixth his junior year. He also placedin the vault two other years including seventh his junior year andeighth his sophomore year. His best marks were in the 110 hurdles(14.34), 300 hurdles (40.84), triple jump (38-9 1/2) and high jump(5-8).
