Davis Breaks School Record in the Long Jump
Six Eagles set Big Sky Conference Championship qualifying marks in Seattle
Shene Davis of the Eastern Washington University track and field team broke the school record in the long jump at the UW Team Invitational Friday and Saturday (Jan. 29-30) in Seattle, Wash.
Davis had a personal-best long jump of 19-8 1/4 to finish third out of 42 competitors and break the school record set by Krystal Deyo in 2009 of 19-2 3/4. Davis qualified for the Big Sky Conference Championships earlier this season.
Alex Smyth had a personal-best in the mile of 4:05.98 to rank third in school history behind Bob Maplestone's school-record time of 3:58.5 set in 1973. He qualified for the conference championships earlier this season.
Eagles who qualified for the conference championships in Bozeman, Mont., on Feb. 26-27 include:
