Eric Allison is entering his 15th year as Eastern’s pole vault coach. Since joining EWU in 2001, he has coached athletes to Big Sky All-Conference team honors every year. In addition to his All-Conference performers, Allison has coached Regional and first round NCAA Division I qualifiers in 11 of the past 12 years.

He coached one of Eastern’s most decorated athletes, Keisa Monterola, who was an NCAA All-American in 2012 and set the school records for the vault in indoor and outdoor. Monterola also holds the indoor and outdoor Big Sky Conference meet record for the pole vault, and set the Venezuelan Indoor National record during her time at Eastern. He has coached seven Big Sky Champions and 27 All-Conference performers in the pole vault.

In 2005 Allison coached the men vaulters to a top-three sweep at the conference championships. He has coached all four EWU school record holders as well as several vaulters on Eastern top ten all-time list (Indoor- 10 women, six men, Outdoor- 10 women, six men). Allison also has his USA Track and Field Level I certification.

As a coach at the Community College of Spokane in 2004, he coached the men’s NWAACC Champion who broke the school record with a height of 16-4. Athletes coached by Allison held all school records while he coached there. In 2006 he coached two women vaulters who placed first and second at conference -- they were the only two female vaulters on the team.

As a coach at Riverside High School (WA) from 1992 to 2000, he coached three state champions and several state placers.

Allison grew up in Fresno, Calif., and attended the University of California at Irvine. While at Irvine, he reached a personal best of 15-6 in the vault and competed in the conference championships twice. Allison owns his own business in the Spokane area.
