Lind Kick-Starts Part One of Big Sky Conference Championships

With sixth-place finish in the decathlon, junior earns first team points for Eastern at league meet

Junior Kersee Lind from the Eastern Washington University track and field team placed sixth in the decathlon Thursday (May 12) at the 2010 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif.

The Hermiston, Ore., native scored 6630 points, racking up his most points in the 1,500 meters, in which Lind crossed the finish line first in a time of 4:26.75 for 766 points. Teammate Warren Miller placed 12th overall, scoring 5895 points. The freshman ran a time of 11.88 in the 100 meters to earn him 675 points.

The regular portion of the meet will get underway Friday at 1 p.m. with the men's hammer throw. Running events will be begin at 3 p.m., with the women's 3,000 steeplechase.
