Katie Mahoney Named Big Sky Athlete of the Week
Katie Mahoney of the Eastern Washington University women’s track and field team was selected as the Big Sky Conference women’s track athlete of the week for the week of April 22 after putting together one of the best weekends ever by an Eagle distance runner at the Mt. SAC Relays (April 18) and Beach Invitational (April 19).

Mahoney Re-Breaks Two School Records in California
The Eastern Washington University track and field teams took advantage of some great weather and competitive fields at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., (April 17-19) and Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif., (April 18-19) coming away with seven more Big Sky Conference qualifying marks and a handful of personal/seasonal bests.

Jordan Arakawa of the Eastern Washington University men’s track and field team was selected as the Big Sky Conference co-men’s field athlete of the week for the week of April 15 after exceeding the 210-foot barrier in the hammer for the third week in a row at EWU’s 43rd Annual Pelluer Invitational on April 12 in Cheney, Wash.

Eagles Hit 10 Big Sky Standards in California/Bozeman
Split up between the Stanford Invitational and Montana State Open, the Eastern Washington University track and field teams earned 10 more Big Sky Conference qualifying marks Friday and Saturday (April 4-5) in Stanford, Calif., and Bozeman, Mont.

Junior men’s track and field student-athlete Jordan Arakawa and senior women’s track and field student-athlete Keisa Monterola have been selected by the Eastern Washington University Athletic Department as the February Scholar-Athletes of the Month, announced Thursday, April 3.

Eastern Splits up Squads for Stanford Invite and MSU Open
The Eastern Washington University track and field teams will have two different destinations this weekend as a select group of athletes will head to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 4-5). The majority of the team will be traveling to Bozeman, Mont., for the Montana State Open on Saturday (April 5).

Known within the Eastern Washington University athletic department for her craft in the throwing ring, Vania Tauvela of the women’s track and field team has recently been recognized for her artistry in the classroom. The senior became the recipient of an Inland Northwest Student ADDY Award from the Spokane American Advertising Federation (AAF).

Kari McKay, an All-America distance runner for the Eagles in the early 1990’s, has been selected as one of the 25 greatest female athletes in Big Sky Conference history. Recipient Nos. 20 and 21 on the list were revealed Thursday (Oct. 31) by the league.

EWU Track & Field/XC to Host “Terror Trot” Fun Run
The Eastern Washington University track and field and cross country programs will be hosting the EWU Terror Trot Saturday Oct. 26 in Cheney, Wash. The “haunted” 5K fun run/walk will begin at 9 am, starting at the corner of Elm and Washington Street and finishing on the Inferno at Roos Field.
