2012-13 Track and Field: Indoor: Swanson recorded her personal-best time in the 800 at the Idaho Collegiate II, running 2:33.80 to place 15th overall. Outdoor: Competing primarily in the 800, Swanson’s season-best time of 2:35.16 came at the Duane Hartman Invitational. She also ran a time of 5:36.35 in the 1,500 at the Idaho Vandal Jamboree. 2012 Cross Country: Swanson placed 79th at the Big Sky Championships with a time of 23:51.3, finishing seventh for Eastern. She finished 98th at the Inland Empire Classic, running a time of 22:12. She was also 58th at the Clash of the Inland Northwest (17:38.6 4,000) and 66th at the Sundodger Invitational (27:09.80 6,000).

2011-12 Track and Field: Indoor: Swanson ran 2:35.62 in the 800 at the Idaho Vandal Collegiate to place 14th overall. She also ran the 400 at the Idaho Open, running 1:08.72 and placing 37th overall. Outdoor: Swanson ran her personal-best time of 2:34.29 in the 800 at the Montana Al Manuel Invitational, placing eighth. She was selected to the winter Big Sky All-Academic team.

High School: Swanson, who competed for Scappoose High School, ran 21:47 on a 5,000 meter course in cross country at the Big 9 3A District Championships, placing 16th. She ran the 800 and 1,600 in track, hitting times of 2:39.11 and 6:22.84. Her other best times came in the 400 (1:08.34), 1,500 (5:47.70) and 3,000 (13:19.10).
