Kirk Earlywine on Gibbs: "Alden will come in and be one of the best athletes in the Big Sky. He will remind Eagle fans of Chris Hester, and he may go up even higher than Hester -- and that's saying a mouthful. He's an unbelievable rebounder for a player 6-3. He pursues every ball and he can really get out in transition and finish plays at the basket. If he shoots the ball effectively from the perimeter, he's really going to be hard to guard for other teams from our conference."
Junior College: While at College of the Siskiyous in California, Gibbs was a California Community College Athletic Association first team All-State selection in the 2008-09 season. He averaged 17.0 points with a high game of 32 as a sophomore, to go along with averages of 11.1 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game to rank second in the CCCAA. He had 150 offensive rebounds and more than 40 dunks in 30 games, earning first team All-Golden Valley Conference honors. Gibbs averaged 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.5 steals as a freshman, including three double-doubles with a high scoring output of 25 points. He led the school to a 22-12 record in 2008-09 after a 9-20 finish the year before.
High School: Graduated from Canarsie HS in 2007. He helped lead his team to the semifinals of the 2006 A Division Playoffs in New York, losing 67-62 to the eventual champion with a berth in the championship game at Madison Square Garden on the line. The team finished 21-3 overall and 15-1 in league play to advance to the semifinals of the Brooklyn Boro Playoffs.
Personal: Born Oct. 4, 1986, in Brooklyn. He intends on majoring in sports management. Parents are Alden Jay Gibbs and Donna Edwards.
