Kirk Earlywine on Bolte: "After transferring from Rice, P.J. will redshirt this year and then have three years of eligibility remaining. He's the prototypical Big Sky forward, with the ability to face the basket and score. He has a strong body, but we need him to get stronger and add eight or 10 pounds of muscle during his redshirt year. He has a good feel for the game and understands how to play. I think P.J. will have a terrific career here in the three years he will play."
Rice University: He played in 11 games in the 2009-09 season for Rice, which finished 10-22. All three of the points he scored came on a three-pointer in his first game versus Cal Poly (11/20/08). He finished the season with four rebounds and three steals.
High School: Graduated from Franklin Pierce HS in 2008. Averaged 14.2 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks as a senior. Was named honorable mention All-South Puget Sound 3A League. His most memorable game began when he took an inbounds pass and had a reverse dunk to start a 24-point, 12-rebound, six-assist night. His high school coach was Stan Harris. As a junior, he averaged 15.9 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks and was a first team All-South Puget Sound 3A League selection. Also an honor roll student in high school.
Personal: Born Dec. 23, 1989, in Tacoma, Wash. He is undecided on a major. He is the son of Paul and Tami Bolte and has two younger siblings, Spencer and Lindsey. Nickname is "Petey."
