Earlywine on Colimon: “Number one, he’s a winner. He played in one of the most high-powered, prestigious high school programs in the country, then he played for an elite junior college program, which was probably the best team in the country but was upset in the semifinals. He is a terrific on-the-ball defender, he can shoot the ball, he has quickness, toughness, and speed -- everything you would look for in a point guard at this level.”
Junior College: Played two seasons at College of Eastern Utah, helping the Golden Eagles to a two-year record of 50-16 as he proved to be tough in the clutch by making 69-of-89 free throws (78 percent). He averaged 5.6 points, 2.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game as a sophomore while making 81 percent of his free throws and 35 percent of his shots from the field (26 percent from the three-point line). He scored in double figures three times, including a season-high of 13 points against College of Southern Idaho. He had seven assists, three steals and 11 points against Western Nebraska, and had six assists, four rebounds and nine points versus North Idaho as Eastern Utah finished 27-10. The Golden Eagles captured third place in the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament with 65-61 overtime victory over Navarro College. That came on the heels of a 68-64 semifinal loss to Howard in which Eastern Utah squandered a 16-point lead in the closing minutes that cost them their chance at a national championship. Colimon scored nine points against Nvarro, five versus Howard and 11 in a quarterfinal win over Wallace State.
