Kirk Earlywine on Fischer: “Sean walked on and redshirted last season. Like the vast majority of freshmen, he had to gain physical strength and understand how difficult it is to play at the Division I level. Sean has the ability to shoot the ball well, and obviously we need to be a good shooting team to compete at this level. Hopefully somewhere down the road he’ll be able to step in and make open shots for us.”
High School: Graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 2009. A first team All-Greater Spokane League selection as a senior, Fischer averaged 12.8 points in leading the Bullpups to a fourth-place finish at the WIAA State 4A Tournament. He closed his career with 21 points – all after halftime – in a 72-64 overtime win over Inglemoor that capped Gonzaga Prep’s 26-4 season. He scored 31 points in a 77-45 victory over two-time defending State 4A champion Ferris, making 7-of-8 three pointers and 12-of-14 shots overall. He also scored 27 points versus Shadle Park and 22 against Mt. Spokane as he finished with 18 double-figure scoring performances, including his first eight games of the season. He earned honorable mention All-GSL honors as a junior when he averaged 13.9 points per game while making 66 percent of his three-point attempts and 57 percent overall. He scored in double figures in 18 of 21 games.
