Video Scoreboards to be Latest Upgrade at EWU’s Reese Court and Roos Field
Following up on the momentum created with the installation of red synthetic turf at Roos Field and the 2011 National Championship, Eastern Washington University is now taking steps to replace the 23-year-old Roos Field scoreboard with a new video scoreboard that will enhance the game-day experience for students, fans and athletes. In addition, a new video board will be added to the existing scoreboard at Reese Court in the Pavilion.

Pat Whitehill Celebration of Life Takes Place on June 3
A “Celebration of Life” for Eastern Washington University Athletics Hall of Fame member Pat Whitehill will take place on Sunday, June 3 at 1 p.m. at the Showalter Auditorium on the EWU campus in Cheney, Wash. Whitehill passed away on Feb. 25 at the age of 82. The 1951 Eastern graduate was a standout in men’s basketball and track and field for Eastern, then spent 30 years as a member of EWU’s physical education department.

40 Selected to Winter All-Academic Team
A total of 40 Eastern Washington University student-athletes have been honored on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for winter quarter 2012. Of the total, 18 were from the women's indoor track and field team, 12 from the men's indoor squad, seven from women's basketball and three from the men's basketball team.

Eagles Sign All-State Guard Ivan Dorsey from City College of San Francisco
City College of San Francisco All-State guard Ivan Dorsey, a former and future teammate of Collin Chiverton, has signed a letter of intent to attend Eastern Washington University and play for the Eagles in the 2012-13 season, EWU head coach Jim Hayford has announced.

The final Eastern Washington University Coaches Show of the 2011-12 school year will take place tonight (March 12) at 5 p.m. at the Q Sports Bar and Restaurant at Northern Quest Casino and Resort. The show is starting an hour earlier than normal because of pre-game coverage on 700-AM ESPN for the Spokane Shock season-opening football game.

SEASON WRAP-UP: Eastern Finishes 15-17 in Debut Season Under Hayford
It was all about improvement. The Eastern Washington University men’s basketball program under first-year head coach Jim Hayford improved by five victories from the year before, as the Eagles equaled its most wins since Eastern made its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004.

Colimon Earns BSC Championship All-Tournament Honors
Concluding his honor-filled senior season with a flourish, senior point guard Cliff Colimon was selected to the Big Sky Conference Championship All-Tournament team for scoring 49 points in two games in the tournament. He is EWU’s first all-tournament selection since Rodney Stuckey in 2006, and its 14th overall.

Junior guard Jeffrey Forbes was up to the task. So was senior point guard Cliff Colimon. And ditto for senior forward Laron Griffin. Eagles Will Take on Griz in Semifinals
Portland State defeated Montana State 75-53 Saturday night (March 3), and as a result, Eastern Washington University will play host Montana Tuesday (March 6) in the semifinals of the Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Championship in Missoula, Mont. With Early 27-7 Lead, Eastern Rolls to 73-66 Victory
This time, the Eagles did the long-range bombing. After falling victim the last two seasons to Idaho’s 3-point shooting attack, the Eastern Washington University sank them early and often Wednesday (Nov. 30) and rolled to a 73-66 non-conference men’s basketball victory over Idaho State at Memorial Gym in Moscow, Idaho.

Ederaine Wins Big Sky Player of the Week Award
After leading Eastern to a pair of victories, senior forward Cliff Ederaine has been selected as Big Sky Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday (Nov. 29). The 6-foot-7, 205-pound senior forward from Moreno Valley, Calif., averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and two blocks per game as the Eagles notched a road win over Hawai’i (89-72), and topped UC Davis (79-59) in Cheney.

Eagles play on the Palouse versus Vandals and Cougars
After traveling to and from Hawai’i for a single game, a pair of short treks to the Palouse this week are going to seem like a jaunt across campus for the Eastern Washington University men’s basketball team. Opening the season 3-2 under first-year head coach Jim Hayford, the Eagles play at Idaho from the Western Athletic Conference on Wednesday (Nov. 30), followed by a game at Washington State of the Pac-12 on Saturday (Dec. 3).

You know Cliff Ederaine is going to have a big outing when the 6-foot-7 Eastern Washington University forward makes a 3-pointer. The senior had career highs of 23 points and seven assists as the Eagles surged past UC Davis in the second half for a 79-59 non-conference college men’s basketball victory Sunday (Nov. 27) at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash.

Eagles Finish Strong and Win at Hawai’i, 89-72
Now that’s the way you take a lead and make it bigger. Eastern Washington University turned a four-point advantage into leads of 14 and 18 in the second half, and went on to defeat Hawai’i 89-72 in a non-conference college men’s basketball game Tuesday (Nov. 22) at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Coming off a frustrating 73-65 loss at Oregon on Nov. 17, the 1-2 Eagles head for Hawai’i to face the 1-1 Rainbow Warriors of the Western Athletic Conference on Tuesday (Nov. 22). Following that contest, Eastern has a post-Thanksgiving home game on Sunday (Nov. 27) against UC Davis of the Big West Conference in a game that begins at 1:35 p.m. Pacific time at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash.
