In hopes of watching Rodney Stuckey's name called in the two rounds of the NBA Draft, the Associated Students of Eastern Washington University (ASEWU) is hosting a "Draft Day Party" on Thursday (June 28) at Heroes & Legends Restaurant in downtown Spokane.
The public is invited to attend the party, which will begin at 3:30 p.m. New Eastern head coach Kirk Earlywine is expected to attend.
The actual draft begins at 4:30 p.m Pacific time (ESPN begins its broadcast coverage at 4 p.m.) and Stuckey is expected to be taken in the mid-to-late first round. The broadcast will end by 8 p.m.
With his stock rising since announcing on May 23 that he was entering the draft for sure, Stuckey received an invitation to the actual draft at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Previously, he was expected to be in the Seattle area for the draft with his family and representatives of Goodwin Sports Management.
"This is a way for us to acknowledge and congratulate Rodney on his opportunity to play pro ball and to wish him well in his career," said EWU Associate Athletic Director for Development Matt McCoy. "I think it is also nice for students and fans to be able to show their appreciation for the excitement he brought to the EWU basketball program. It should be a fun event."
Heroes & Legends is located at 825 W. Riverside in downtown Spokane. Additionally, Hoopfest check-in begins that day at nearby Riverfront Park.
