HS: Graduated from Grandview HS in 2009. Was a first team 5A All-State selection in the state of Colorado as a defensive lineman in 2008. Earned first team All-Centennial League honors as a senior defensive lineman. He had 87 tackles (17 for loss) with nine sacks as a senior, helping Grandview to an 11-1 record. As a junior, he helped Grandview win the Colorado Class 5A state football championship with a 20-14 overtime win. The Wolves finished 12-2.
