A $5 discount is a being offered to football fans for the "Showdown on the Sound" Big Sky Conference football game between Eastern Washington University and Portland State University on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. at Qwest Field in Seattle.
Tickets are now available via Ticketmaster.com, with the code BIGSKY (in the "group sales offer" entry field) enabling fans to receive $5 off for reserved tickets purchased in club or regular seating sections. The normal price for tickets are $30 for club seats and $15 for regular seats.
Portland State students may purchase tickets for $8, but a student identification card must be displayed with the ticket at the gate. Eastern students will be admitted free with a valid student identification card.
The Big Sky Conference game between the Eagles and the Vikings marks the first time either school has played a football game in Seattle. Portland State, coached by former NFL head coach Jerry Glanville, has defeated Eastern Washington each of the last two years. The Vikings lead the all-time series 18-12-1, and the Big Sky series, 7-6.
The Eagles will play their first game in the Puget Sound area since Oct. 30, 1982, when Eastern won at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.
There are nearly 11,000 Eastern alumni who reside in the Puget Sound area in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties. More than 16,000 reside west of the Cascade Mountains. Among current Eastern students, nearly 1,500 are from King, Snohomish and Pierce counties, and a total of nearly 2,500 are from cities west of the Cascade Mountains.
