Scrimmage No. 2 is on Friday Afternoon

Eastern ends second week of spring practice with an extended, situational scrimmage at Roos Field

The plays and situations will be multiplied this Friday (April 13) when the Eastern Washington University football team conducts its second scrimmage of spring practices at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash.

After last week’s 37-play scrimmage to end the first week, Eastern will nearly double that total on Friday as it plans to add situational plays into the scrimmage.

The team will begin practicing at 3 p.m. and the actual scrimmage will start at about 3:40 p.m. Among the situations the Eagles expect to run are long drive (starting at their own 5-yard line or less), red zone (opponent 20-yard line or less), two-minute drill and overtime (with the defense starting with an eight-point lead).

The Patchin, Lukens and Osso radio talk show will air live from Roos Field Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and include interviews from players, coaches and other Eastern staff members. The show may be heard on 700-AM ESPN, www.700espn.com & via iphone app. (search for “700 ESPN” and download app).

The Eagles, who concluded an injury-plagued 2011 season with six wins in their last seven games to finish 6-5, will practice two more weeks after Friday’s scrimmage. Eastern is also scheduled to scrimmage on Saturday, April 21 (approximately 10:30 a.m.) at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash.

Spring practices conclude on Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. with the annual Red-White Spring Football Game as part of the 31st-Annual Orland Killin Weekend at EWU. The Red-White Game will be televised live in the Spokane area by SWX (SWX Digital 6.2 in Spokane, 25.3 in the Tri-Cities & 23.3 in the Yakima area; Comcast 115; Time Warner 306; Charter 287, Cable One 466).
