2012: Listed as a backup at wide receiver on preseason depth chart. He may also return kickoffs for the Eagles. In four spring scrimmages, he caught 12 passes for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

2011: Catching passes from his younger brother Bo Levi Mitchell, Cory Mitchell caught a career-high seven passes for 132 yards and a touchdown at Cal Poly (11/12/11) to earn team offensive player of the week honors. As a result, he started the first game of his career against Idaho State (11/19/11) and finished with three catches for 53 yards. Against Northern Arizona (10/8/11), he leaped high in the air to catch a 17-yard touchdown pass from his brother, who later admitted the pass was intended for another receiver. Earlier in the season against Weber State (10/1/11), Cory’s first reception of his Eastern career (seven yards) was the first time he has ever caught a pass in an organized game from his brother, who graduated from high school two years after Cory. In the spring, Cory was selected as Eastern’s co-most improved offensive player. He burst onto the scene to catch 14 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns in four spring scrimmages. In the team’s third scrimmage, he caught six passes for 148 yards and a score.

2010: Redshirted. Did not previously attend college, so he was considered a true freshman when he attended Eastern for the first time in fall 2010. He elected to work instead of attend college following his high school graduation.

HS: Graduated from Katy HS in 2006.

Personal: Journalism major. Born 12/12/87 in Houston, Texas. Son of Dwight Mitchell and Barbara Miller. His brother, Bo Levi, is a 2008 graduate of Katy HS and transferred to Eastern from Southern Methodist.
