Public is invited to attend event at 2 p.m. at Reese Court, as Eagles continue preparations for semifinal game
A rally for the Eastern Washington University football team will take place this Friday (Dec. 14) at 2 p.m. at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash., 23 hours prior to EWU’s semifinal appearance in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs.
The event is expected to last 30 minutes and is open to the public. The football team, coaching staff, EWU Marching Band and Eastern Cheer Squad will be on hand. Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin and selected players will speak.
Prizes will be given to EWU students who attend, with an entry form available at the EWU Bookstore customer service desk. Finals week concludes Thursday at EWU, but a large group of students are expected to stay for Saturday’s game versus Sam Houston State. The Eagles, who won the 2010 NCAA Division I Championship, are 11-2 this season and the Bearkats are 10-3. The winner advances to the championship game on Jan. 5 in Frisco, Texas.
Saturday’s game begins at 1:05 p.m. Pacific time and is televised on ESPNU. The radio broadcast of this week’s game, featuring Larry Weir, Paul Sorensen and Keith Osso, starts 1 1/2 hours prior to kickoff with the Eagle Tailgate Show. It may be heard on 700-AM ESPN, via the web at www.700espn.com and via iPhone application (search for “700 ESPN” and download the free app).
