2014: Listed as a reserve at running back on the preseason depth chart.
2013: Saw action as a reserve running back, and finished the season with one rush for three yards. Was the team’s scout team offensive player of the week once.
2012: Moved from linebacker back to running back in the fall, and ended up rushing four times for 39 yards. He had two carries for 26 yards versus North Dakota (10/6/12), including a 23-yard run. In the spring he was a linebacker.
2011: Was a non-lettering squad member. Was selected as the team’s offensive scout team player of the week once.
HS: Graduated from Sandpoint HS in Idaho in 2010. Earned first team All-Inland Empire League honors on offense. The Spokesman-Review also selected him to its All-North Idaho squad. He rushed for 954 yards and 10 touchdowns on 124 carries (7.7 per carry). He also had three catches for 118 yards (39.3 yards per reception) and two scores as he scored a total of 74 points. He also had four sacks on defense as he led Sandpoint to a 9-3 record, falling to Blackfoot 29-23 in the Idaho State 4A championship game. Hecker rushed for 194 yards on 19 carries in a 20-7 win over Colville (Wash.), including a 77-yard run. He also had 172 yards and three touchdowns versus Lake City of Coeur d’Alene. He was team captain and voted his team’s best offensive back as a senior. He lettered three seasons, earning special teams player of the year honors as a sophomore and junior. He also lettered four years in track as a jumper and thrower.
Personal: Communication studies major. Born 9/19/91 in Boise, Idaho. Will turn 23 the day before Eastern plays at Montana State. Parents are Curt and Barb Hecker.
