2014: Listed as the starter at defensive end on the preseason depth chart. He had a total of six tackles with two sacks in three spring scrimmages.

2013: Saw action in all 15 Eagle games, including a starting assignment against North Dakota (10/12/13). Johnson had three tackles in that game and a season-high seven one game earlier against Weber State (10/5/13) to earn team defensive player of the week honors. For the season, he finished with 34 tackles including 1 1/2 sacks and three total tackles for loss. He had 10 tackles in three spring scrimmages, including four stops and a half-sack in the Red-White Spring Game. At the conclusion of spring, he was selected as Eastern’s co-most improved defensive player.

2012: He played in four games and lettered as a defensive lineman. He finished with three tackles after initially being projected as an offensive guard at EWU. He had two tackles against North Dakota (10/6/12) and one versus Cal Poly (11/3/12). Earlier in the year he was selected as the team’s defensive scout team player of the week for his work in practice before the opener versus Idaho (8/30/12).

Washington State: Transferred from Washington State University and attended EWU for the first time in fall 2012. Redshirted at WSU in 2010, and did not appear in any games as a redshirt freshman in 2011. He earned WSU Scout Team Offensive Player of the Week honors twice.

HS: Graduated from Stanwood HS in 2010. As a senior he earned first team All-Area honors from the Everett Herald and was first team All-Western Conference as a linebacker. He was first team All-Wesco as a linebacker in his junior season, and was a first team selection in basketball as well.

Personal: Computer information systems major. Born in Everett, Wash. His parents are Ron and Deanna Johnson. His sister, Lindsay, played softball at UNLV.
