The annual Eastern Washington University Football Awards Banquet will take place Friday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pence Union Building Multipurpose Building on the EWU campus in Cheney, Wash.
Cost is $25 per person, and the event includes dinner and video productions and highlights from the 2008 season. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 509-359-2463. The deadline is Jan. 7.
Team awards will be presented and other accomplishments acknowledged, including recognition of the team’s 18 seniors. One of them, Greg Peach, won the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision and also was the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Eastern’s 2008 football team won its final three games for EWU’s 11th winning season in the last 13 years. The Eagles closed the season with a 33-26 victory over eighth-ranked and Big Sky Conference champion Weber State.
