Eastern Washington University will end its first week of spring football practice with a short scrimmage Friday (April 13) afternoon at the Sports and Recreation Center practice fields on the EWU campus in Cheney, Wash.
The scrimmage will consist of about 50 plays, and begins around 4:20 p.m. after an hour of practice. The Eagles began practices Monday, and Friday's action will be just the team's fourth day of spring practice.
"We have a lot of work in front of us," said Eagle head coach Paul Wulff. "We have 12 practices remaining after today (Thursday), and we need them all. But I'm happy with our progress at this point."
The Eagles return 46 letter winners from last year's 3-8 squad. Spring practice culminates with the annual Red-White Game on May 5 at 2 p.m. at Woodward Field in Cheney, Wash.
During the four-week stretch, Eastern will practice Mondays (except April 30), Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:20 p.m.
Besides the Red-White game, public scrimmages will take place on Friday, April 13 (4:20 p.m.), Friday, April 20 (3:50 p.m.) and Saturday, April 28 (11 a.m.).
