Bensen, a junior midfielder on the women's soccer team not only is nearing the school record for goals in a season, but she holds a 3.89 grade point average. She is a criminal justice major and has been on the EWU Dean's List six out of a possible six quarters at Eastern thus far. The junior from Sandpoint, Idaho, will be named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the third time.
On the soccer field, her four goals scored this year is one off the school record, currently held by Traci Jellison (2002) and Liz Hail (2001). Jensen has a total of six goals in her career, while her four this year came in a three-game span from Sept. 28 to Oct. 7. Jensen was named Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 1 after she scored three goals in two games, including a pair in a 3-2 victory over San Jose State on Sept. 30.
Brayton, a 3.14 student majoring in business administration, has earned some impressive accolades on the football field over the last several weeks. The junior punter earned National Player of the Week accolades from Don Hansen's Football Gazette after he punted six times against Idaho State for a 47.7 average. His long in that 34-7 Eagle win was 53 and two kicks were downed inside the ISU 20-yard line. He also earned Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his performance in that contest.
Through EWU's first six games of the season, Brayton is ranked 36th nationally in punting with an average of 40.3 yards per kick. He is a transfer from Washington State University and 2004 graduate of Westview High School in Portland, Ore.
