At Saint Louis: Was named Atlantic-10 Rookie of the Week March 22. In dual competitions, he finished 6-8 in singles (1-0 at No. 2, 1-1 at No. 3, 4-7 at No. 4) and 9-5 in doubles (all at No. 2 with Ken Nordheim). Played No. 4 singles at the A-10 Championship, posting a win vs. Temple and leading 6-1, 5-0 in an unfinished match vs. Fordham. Captured doubles wins vs. Fordham and Richmond. Began the dual season with a four-match doubles winning streak. Won both singles and doubles matches vs. Southern Illinois Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois, Indiana Tech and UMKC. Earned a spot in the singles main draw at the ITA Central Region Championships with a pair of qualifying wins. Was 3-1 in singles and 4-0 in doubles at the Bradley's Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational. Registered overall records of 11-12 in singles and 13-6 in doubles.
High School: Was named Empire Player of the Year as a senior at Montgomery High School after he went 20-1 at No. 1 singles and helped the team post a 17-1 record. Reached the semifinals of the California Interscholastic Federation North Coast Section as a senior. Also lettered as a freshman. Trained at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in Texas his sophomore and junior years. Won three national open doubles titles. Recahed the top 100 in the nation in every age group in which he competed.
