2009-10: Named to the Big Sky All-Academic team. Played primarily at the No. 6 singles position, where he recorded eight wins for the Eagles. Finished the year with an overall singles record of 9-11, while also appearing in four doubles matches for a 2-2 record. Won his first three conference matches of the season, beating Jeff Cero of Portland State (7-5, 4-6, 6-0), Connor Buchanan of Northern Colorado (6-2, 6-1) and Colton Pate of Idaho State (6-1, 6-0). Played three matches at the No. 4 singles spot in the latter part of the season, including a come-from-behind victory over Jordan Prince of Seattle (4-6, 6-2, 1-0).

Personal: Son of Walter and Mirtis Malagutti. Majoring in business administration with a minor in international affairs. Over the 2010 summer, Malgutti spent 10 weeks coaching at the esteemed Tennis Academy at Harvard in Boston, Mass.
