2010-11: In his first year with the Eagles, Navarro had a major impact on the squad, as he jumped right to the top of the lineup and was selected to the Big Sky All-Academic team. He played in 21 of Eastern’s 23 matches on the year, with six appearances at No. 1 singles, 11 at No. 2 and 4 at No. 3. He finished the year with a 9-12 overall record, and an even 4-4 mark in Big Sky Conference play. Navarro won three of his first four conference duals, including a pivotal three-set victory over Michael Facey of Montana, which helped EWU defeat the Griz, 5-2. He had two victories against Gonzaga, and was the only Eagle to record a win against Portland. Navarro closed out his freshman campaign with a noteworthy win at No. 1 against Portland State’s Chris Rice.
High School: Prior to coming to Eastern, Navarro earned an ITF ranking of 618 and was among the top 200 players in Spain. At age 16, Navarro ranked as high as sixth among all junior players in his native country. He has extensive ITF experience, including a doubles title from an ITF junior tournament in Pilar de la Horadada, Spain.
Personal: Son of Alfonso Navarro Molina and Maria Pilar Bayo Moya. Majoring in business administration.
