Eagles Lose to Denver

Jan. 26, 2007

The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team dropped its second match of the season, losing to the 62nd-ranked University of Denver Pioneers on Thursday evening (Jan. 25) by a 4-0 score.

The Eagles' play was highlighted by the doubles win of Jonathan Davis and Patrick Millican, who claimed their 8-7 (7-5) win over Ben Althaus and Raviot Dhatt on the third court. The win snapped a two-match losing streak for the pair.

Unfortunately for Eastern (0-2), the Pioneers had already won the doubles point by that point.

Denver clinched its team win by claiming the first three singles matches to finish, each in straight sets. The match was then ended following the clinching of the team result by DU with one match almost over, another just started and a third not yet begun.

The match was the season-opening contest for the Pioneers and took place in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Eagles continue their three-match trip to the Centennial State on Friday (Jan. 26) with a noon PT first serve versus Air Force. The Falcons started their season with three losses in California, dropping matches to Point Loma Nazarene (7-2), UC Riverside (7-0) and Loyola Marymount (7-0). Eastern then opens Big Sky Conference play at Northern Colorado (0-0) on Saturday.
