2009 Cross Country: Smyth finished 23rd at the Big Sky Conference Championships with a time of 26:58.50 on the 8,000-meter course. Smyth competed in just three meets due to a strained quad muscle that was ailing prior to the conference championships.
2008-09: Outdoors, Smyth finished third in the 1,500 meters with a career-best time of 3:51.24 to finish third at the Big Sky Conference Championships. Indoors, Smyth finished seventh in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:26.95 at the BSC Championships. His career-best time of 8:17.98 in the 3,000 came at the UW Indoor Preview to rank fourth in school history. Smyth’s career-best time of 4:14.11 in the 1,600 meters came at the Husky Classic. He was named Big Sky All-Academic both indoors and outdoors.
2008 Cross Country: Smyth finished sixth at the Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships on an 8,000-meter course with a time of 23:47.60 to earn All-Big Sky honors. He went on to compete at the NCAA West Regionals where he placed 93rd.
2007-08: Outdoors, Smyth finished 15th in the 10,000 meters with a career-best time of 32:38.55 at the BSC Championships. He had career-best time in the 5,000 (15:31.20) at the 37th Annual Pelluer Invitational. He was named Big Sky All-Academic both indoors and outdoors. Indoors, Smyth finished seventh in the mile with a time of 4:20.37 at the Big Sky Conference Championships. His best time of 4:18.76 came when he won at the WSU Open Indoor meet. He finished first in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:52.61 at the McDonalds Open.
2007 Cross Country: Smyth placed 13th at the Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships (25:08.20) and was 71st at the NCAA West Regional Championships (32:01.70). Both those times were the second-fastest on the team at those meets. He was named Big Sky All-Academic for cross country.
2006-07: Smyth did not compete in 2006-07.
