In 2007, the women's cross country team finished fourth at the BSC Championships, which was their best finish in school history at the Division I level. He coached Paul Limpf, who finished 73rd at the 2008 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, and Mattie Bridgmon, who finished 64th in 2007.

Zeller has coached nine athletes to All-Big Sky Conference honors in cross country (top ten). In track, he has coached three Big Sky Champions (Kyle King 11-12, Mattie Bridgmon 08) and 12 All-Conference performers. Bridgmon also went on to NCAA Nationals in track, placing 13th in the 5,000.

Before coming to Eastern, Zeller served as head boys' cross country coach for Port Angeles High School. In his three years there, his teams finished 13th, sixth and seventh at state, and he was voted the Narrows League Coach of the Year in both 2003 and 2004.

Prior to coaching at Port Angeles, Zeller assisted at Ferndale High for one year in 2001. During that season, the FHS boys' team captured the league and district titles.

Zeller earned his bachelor's degree in history-secondary education from Western Washington University in winter 2002. He has his USA Track and Field Level II certification in the distance, sprints and hurdles.

Zeller ran for Western Washington, and prior to that for Pat Tyson at Mead High School where he was a team captain his senior year. He and his wife, Maya, have been married for 13 years. They have a daughter, Zoey (3), and a new-born son Canyon (July 2012).
