Duran Wins Pentathlon

Freshman Jessica Duran out of Kent, Wash., won the women's pentathlon for the Eastern Washington University track team at the 20th Annual Jerry Martin Invitational Friday (Jan. 19) at the Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash.

With 3,032 points, Duran, a 2006 graduate of Kent-Meridian high school, is sixth on the all-time best list at Eastern. She finished first in three events including the 55 hurdles, the high jump and the shot put.

After four events in the men's heptathlon, Eagle senior Matt Ludwigson currently sits in first place after winning the long jump, shot put and the high jump. The final three events of the heptathlon begin Saturday (Jan 20.) at 9 am.

Field events in the Martin Invitational begin Saturday at 9 a.m. and running events start at 11:30 a.m.
