Paul Limpf Finishes 11th at West Regionals

Senior Paul Limpf placed 11th individually as he helped the Eastern Washington University men’s cross county team finish 20th at the NCAA West Regional Championships Saturday (Nov. 15) in Stanford, Calif.

Limpf covered the 10,000-meter course in 29:17.47 and will find out this week if his performance was good enough to garner an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships. Last year, he was 45th at regionals with a time of 31:17.40 and was 53rd as a sophomore in 2006 with a time of 31:49.91.

Oregon won the championship followed by Stanford. Eastern’s men placed 20th out of 25 teams after finishing 14th a year ago.

Other men’s finishers included Alex Smyth (93rd, 31:54.27), Cody Barton (155th, 33:42.65), Kyle King (157th, 33:52.44), Graham Vaux (169th, 35:08.71) and Cody Bradwell (170th, 35:14.98).

Amber Nickelson, who represented the EWU’s women’s team at the meet, finished 166th with a time of 23:16.14 on the 6,000-meter course. Last season, she finished 118th with a time of 22:37.25 and in 2006, she was 107th with a time of 23:39.91.

There were 174 individuals representing 25 schools in the men's competition, and 30 teams and 206 individuals in the women's race.
