Head Coach Wendy Schuller: "Breauna Russell is the most athletic player on our team. She is the fastest, jumps the highest and is strong -- we need to find ways to carry that over to the basketball court. She is shooting the ball better than she did a year ago, and by shooting it better is going to keep teams guarding her on the perimeter. She is almost impossible to stop off the dribble, so if we can put her in good situations and get her good catches and some wide open lanes for her to get to the rim, she is going to be explosive. She can be like Superwoman with her speed and quickness and her ability to defend the ball but best of all she still has a lot of growth in front of her."
2008-09: Russell was selected to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team. She played in 16 games as an Eastern freshman in 2008-09, finishing the year with 16 points and 11 steals.
High School: Russell helped lead her Washington High School team to a trio of 4A state titles her sophomore-senior seasons. She was named second team All-State those three years and earned All-State honorable mention accolades as a freshman. Russell was the Most Valuable Player of the state championship game her senior season. She also earned a letter in volleyball in 2006.
Personal: Born 6/18/90 in Phoenix, Ariz. She is the daughter of Brent and Ethel Russell and has four sisters, Brittany, 20, Jasmyne, 12, Ayala, 9, and Saniya, 2, and three brothers, Justin, 18, Preston, 16, and Johnathan, 12. Russell has not declared a major but is considering psychology.
