Head Coach Wendy Schuller: "Brianne Ryan is another player I thought improved a lot last year. She played a lot as a freshman and played well for us. We love the fact that she shoots the three, she can get to the rim and she is a great rebounding guard. She has a chance to have a breakout season for us - she is physical and a very athletic player. She plays really hard all the time and makes things happen. If we can get Brianne to shoot the ball better from the three-point stripe, she is going to be tough to stop on the offensive end of the floor. She is a great defender with her long arms - she makes things happen and gets tips and steals. She is going to be a big part of our success."
2008-09: Ryan was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team. She started 19 games as a freshman and saw her shooting percentages rise once league play commenced, markedly in the three-point category. She shot 27.3 percent from the arc in non-conference games (9-of-33) and 45.2 percent in league contests (14-of-31).
High School: Ryan was named the state 1A Player of the Year her senior season after helping lead her Lynden Christian High School squad to a state title. She earned Most Valuable Player honors at the event. The team placed third her junior year and second the year before. She also earned All-Northwest League accolades three times (first team as a senior and junior, second as a sophomore), as well as in volleyball (first team as a senior, second as junior).
Personal: Born 4/25/90 in Renton, Wash. She is the daughter of Thomas and Neil Ryan and has two sisters, Kayleigh, 16, and Meagan, 20, and a brother, Andrew, 18. She is undecided on a major.
