Liz Rizza is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Eastern Washington women's basketball team, joining the program prior to the 2013-14 season. Her primary responsibilities include team travel, recruiting, and video operations while assisting with post player development and academic support.
Rizza was most recently an account executive for the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, where she solicited corporate sponsorships, developed business partnerships, sold season and group tickets and booked entertainment for prime time and half time.
Prior to joining the Sparks, Rizza was the head coach of Dana Hills High School's JV squad and an assistant coach for its varsity team during the 2012-13 season. She spent the summer of 2012 as a camp director for Pepperdine's individual and team camps.
She spent the 2011-12 season as a coaching intern at Stanford, participating in coaches' meetings and assisting with day-to-day operations, scouting and game preparation. She also developed recruiting materials, ran mini-camps on game days and coordinated community outreach of players at local schools.
Rizza got her master's degree at Slippery Rock in 2010, where she served as a graduate assistant coach. She earned her bachelor's degree in 2007 at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Penn., after which she became an assistant coach at Grinnell College.
She currently lives in Spokane and enjoys running and going dancing.
