Senior guard Joanna Chadd scored 24 points to lead four players in double figures as Eastern Washington University cruised past Corban College 96-57 in a non-conference women's basketball game Friday (Nov. 17) at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash.
Eastern is now 3-0 on the season and is off to its best start in 20 years. The Eagles host nationally-ranked Washington on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Reese Court. The Huskies are ranked 23rd but lost Friday to Purdue. Corban College fell to 2-2.
Chadd, the Big Sky Conference co-Defensive Player of the Year last season, made 6-of-9 three-point attempts and 9-of-14 overall from the field. She also had four steals.
The Eagles held Corban to 29.8 percent shooting from the field while making 45 percent themselves. Eastern had a 58-39 rebounding advantage and forced 23 turnovers.
Eastern trailed 2-0 and the game was tied 16-all with 9:49 left in the first half. Corban was within six points at 29-23 before the Eagles out-scored the Warriors 21-7 in the last four minutes of the half to take a 50-30 lead at halftime.
The closest Corban came in the second half was 17 points, and Eastern's largest lead of the game was 41 with one minute to play.
