Eagles now take a few weeks off from competition before heading to California in November
The Eastern Washington University women's golf team played its third tournament of the 2009-10 season from Monday-Tuesday (Oct. 5-6), and its third in a 23-day span, at the Heather Farr/CU Memorial in Erie, Colo. Colorado National Golf Club played host to the event.
Kellie Holmstedt had the best showing for Eastern, finishing with a 241 (77-84-80) and in a 76th-place tie. Dana Stapleton was next, in a 95th-place stalemate after carding a 253 (82-89-82). Jayme Carbon tied for 97th with a 254 (83-86-85).
Finishing out Eastern's quartet were Morgan Lee and Kylie Ray. Lee placed 99th after turning in a 256 (82-86-88), while Ray finished in the 103rd slot with a 267 (90-88-89).
As a team, the Eagles were 20th after recording a 1003 (324-344-335). Winning the tournament was Texas Tech (882), while Red Raider Alex Gibson took home the individual crown (213).
Other Big Sky Conference teams participating included Portland State (tied for 11th), Northern Colorado (17th), Weber State (18th) and Montana State (19th).
The Eagles will now take some time off from competitive action before playing in the Cal Poly Fall Invitational Nov. 1-2. That tournament will be hosted by Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande, Calif.
