46 Selected to Spring All-Academic Team
A total of 46 Eastern Washington University student-athletes have been honored on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the 2011 spring quarter. Of the total, 20 were from the women's outdoor track and field team, 12 from the men's outdoor squad, six from women's tennis, five from men's tennis and three from women's golf.

For the Second-Straight Year, Eagles Take Eighth at Big Sky Championship
Although the final placing was the same, the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team showed significant improvement in this year’s Big Sky Conference Championship, which wrapped up on Wednesday (April 20) at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz. The Eagles took eighth at the 2011 tourney with a three-round total of 952 (322-314-316).

Eagles Climb One Spot in Standings after Exciting Second Round at Ocotillo
The Eastern Washington University women’s golf team improved eight strokes in the second round of the 2011 Big Sky Conference Championship Tuesday (April 20), finishing the day at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz., with a cumulative team effort of 314. That second-round score marked the lowest team total recorded by EWU in the 2011 spring season.

Eagles in Eighth After Day One of Big Sky Championship
The Eastern Washington University women’s golf team completed the first of three rounds of the 2011 Big Sky Conference Championship on Monday (April 17) at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz. Eastern is currently in eighth place with a first-round team total of 322. The Eags are only three strokes back from the No. 6 team, Montana State, and just 10 strokes away from the top 5 in the standings.

The most anticipated event of the 2010-11 season has arrived for the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team. For the second time in two weeks and the fourth time in two years, the Eagles will head south to the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz., for the 2011 Big Sky Conference Championship, presented by Black Clover.

Eagles Wrap Up Competition at 2011 Cowgirl Classic
For the first time in the 2011 spring season, the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team completed 54 holes on a dry, green course. The Eagles took 21st out of 23 teams at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz. Eastern finished with a cumulative team score of 977 (333-322-322), while its second and third round scores of 322 marked the lowest team effort of the spring season.

Eagles Prepare for 2011 Cowgirl Classic
It is not the official Big Sky Championship, but it’s as close as it gets. On Monday and Tuesday (April 4-5), the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team will compete at the 2011 Cowgirl Classic at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz. This event will be a perfect preview of the Big Sky tournament in two weeks, not only because it is held on the same course, but all nine teams in the league will be in attendance. The Cowgirl Classic is a 54-hole tournament hosted by the University of Wyoming. A total of 23 teams from 10 different conferences will be competing at Ocotillo.

Eagles Finish Eighth at Lamkin Grip/Cal Poly Challenge
After enduring two wet and windy rounds at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in San Luis Obispo, Calif., the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team finished eighth out of nine teams at the Lamkin Grip/Cal Poly Challenge, held Thursday and Friday (March 24-25). The event, which was originally set for a match play format covering three rounds, was switched to a standard stroke play tournament and shortened to just 36 holes due to severe weather in the area.

Eagles Gear Up Second Outing of Spring Season
After nearly a month off from competition, the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team will get back to the greens this weekend with the Cal Poly Lamkin Grip Match Play Challenge March 24-25 in Arroyo Grande, Calif. The event, held at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course, is different than a standard stroke-play tournament in which a team’s top four individual scores from each round make up an overall team score.

Eagle Golf Takes 16th at Red Rocks Invitational
The Eastern Washington University women’s golf team wrapped up its first competition of the 2011 spring season, finishing 16th out of 18 teams at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Arizona. Eastern recorded a total team score of 677 (331-346).

The Eastern Washington University women’s golf team will officially kick off its spring season this weekend with the Red Rocks Invitational Feb. 26-27. The field for the event includes 20 teams, seven of which hail from the Big Sky Conference.

Eagle Golf Adds Two Washington Natives to Roster
Eastern Washington University head women’s golf coach Brenda Howe has added two new members to her squad. Jackie Brown, a native of Spanaway, Wash., joins the team for the upcoming 2011 winter/spring season. Brown transferred to Eastern from Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss., where she played one year for the Tigers.

Holmstedt Earns BSC Golfer of the Week Accolades
After finishing just three strokes over par in her final event of the 2010 fall season, Eastern Washington University golfer Kellie Holmstedt was selected as the co-Black Clover Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week. Holmstedt, a native of North Bend, Ore., took fourth overall at the Shocker Invitational in Newton, Kan., after carding a two-round total of 147 (75-72).

Eagles Claim Podium Spot at Shocker Invitational
The Eastern Washington University women’s golf had one of its best showings in nearly two years, as the team claimed third place at the Shocker Invitational in Newton, Kan. After a stellar second round, in which all four Eagle scorers shot in the 70s, Eastern finished with a total team score of 616 (313-303).

Eagles Complete Play at Rose City Collegiate
The Eastern Washington University women’s golf team took 15th at the competitive Rose City Collegiate at the Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore. The Rose City Collegiate was a two-day (Sept. 27-28), 54-hole tournament co-hosted by Portland State and Oregon State. A total of 15 teams competed in the event, including five schools from the Big Sky Conference.

Eagles Take 11th at WSU Cougar Cup
The Eastern Washington University women’s golf team finished in 11th place at the third annual WSU Cougar Cup at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Wash. The Eagles played 54 holes over three days (Sept. 13-15), compiling a total team score of 993 (339-323-326).

Eagle Golf Heads to the Palouse for Second Tournament of Season
After a positive showing in its first event of the 2010-11 season, the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team will get back to the greens on Monday (Sept. 20), when it travels to Pullman, Wash., to compete in the third-annual Cougar Cup, hosted by Washington State University. The event will run from Monday – Wednesday (Sept. 22), with 18 holes played each day.

The Eastern Washington University golf team had a solid 2010 debut, as the team took 16th at the competitive Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational in Worley, Idaho. The Eagles finished with a total team score of 952 (321-308-323), which included the lowest round recorded by the Eagles under second-year head coach Brenda Howe.

Eastern in 16th After First Two Rounds at Circling Raven
Senior Kellie Holmstedt shot a 36-hole total of 153 (79-74) to lead the Eastern Washington University women’s golf team in the first day of competition at the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational in Worley, Idaho. Holmstedt is currently tied for 26th out of 107 total golfers.
