Ogden, Utah – Sophomore Marissa Borja has been named to the All-Big Sky Second Team as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, Apr. 30.
It is the first such honor for Borja in her two-year career at Eastern.
"This is a great accomplishment for Marissa," head coach Brenda Howe said. "She was solid all year and had some remarkable finishes. It's been a while since there has been an Eagle on the all-conference team so it's not only exciting for Marissa but for the entire program."
The last time a golfer from EWU earned All-Big Sky honors was back in 2009.
Borja was twice named Big Sky Golfer of the Week during the 2013-14 season and consistently delivered impressive performances for the Eagles. She shot a career-low 69 in the second round of the Cowgirl Desert Classic back in October, finishing third overall in Eastern's final Fall tournament.
Borja won her first ever collegiate tournament in March, claiming the individual crown at the Southern Utah Invitational, shooting a two-round total of 145 (72-73) to pace a field of 71 golfers.
At the 2014 Big Sky Championship in Chandler, Ariz., last week, Borja finished tied for 27th with a three-round score of 237 (78-77-82) as EWU finished seventh.
Borja joins a group of four returning letter winners from this year's team to give Howe a strong core of experienced golfers heading into next season.
