Marc Hughes is used to giving advice on the golf course as the Eastern Washington University women's golf coach, but this weekend he will be trying something new at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Men's Golf Championships.

Hughes was asked by Lance Ringler, the editor of, to provide the color commentary for the third and fourth rounds (May 31-June 2) at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.

The NCAA Tournament started May 17 with 87 teams playing at three different regional sites. The top 10 teams from each region earned the automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. The University of Georgia Bulldogs are the No. 1 ranked team in the country after winning the East Regional with a final team score of three-under-par.

"It is an honor and I am really excited," said Hughes. "It will be a more competitive championship this year than in the past with Georgia, Oklahoma State and my darkhorse pick UCLA. These are the best teams in the country and a number of these players will go on to be future professional golf association (PGA) players."
