Eagles Reveal 2011 Fall Soccer Schedule
Eastern Washington University head women’s soccer coach George Hageage has finalized his schedule for the 2011 season. The Eagles have 16 contests on tap, including seven at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center Soccer Field in Cheney, Wash. Eastern will open its 2011 campaign with two tournaments on the road that will both feature a few unfamiliar opponents for the red and white.

Eagle Soccer Adds Julio Morales to Coaching Staff
After a brief stint with the Eagles in 2007, Julio Morales returns to Eastern Washington University as the new assistant women’s soccer coach, announced Wednesday (April 20) by head coach George Hageage. Morales was a member of the EWU staff during the 2007 season, helping primarily with the junior varsity squad.

Eagle Soccer Adds 10 for 2011
Eastern Washington University head women’s soccer coach George Hageage has added 10 new players to his roster for the upcoming 2011 season. Among the signees are five high school seniors from the state of Washington, two junior college transfers and one international recruit, who has experience playing with several youth national teams in her native country. Hageage will also welcome two talented players from Oregon and Colorado.

50 Selected to Fall All-Academic Team
A total of 50 Eastern Washington University student-athletes have been honored on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for fall quarter 2010. Of the total, 18 were from football, 11 from volleyball, 10 from women's soccer, eight from women's cross country and three from men's cross country.

Eagles Land Five on All-Conference Teams
Five members of the Eastern Washington University soccer team were recognized by the conference coaches as All-Big Sky selections for 2010. Seniors Brittany Sparks and Lyndsey Martin earned All-Big Sky second team honors, while juniors Whitney Brannan and Dashia Huff, and sophomore Lauren Jacobsen received honorable mention accolades.

With its seniors getting one final chance to end their rocky 2010 season on a high note, a second-half goal by Montana held up as the Grizzlies defeated Eastern Washington University 1-0 in a Big Sky Conference women’s soccer match Friday (Oct. 29) at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center playing fields.

Eastern to Face Montana in Final Game of 2010 Season
The Eastern Washington University soccer team will wrap up its 2010 campaign on Friday (Oct. 29) when it plays Montana at 3:30 p.m. at the EWU Sports and Recreation playing fields in Cheney, Wash. Friday’s contest will also be Senior Day, as five members of the EWU soccer team, Lisa Dimak, Hannah Kreminski, Lyndsey Martin, Lacey Schreiner and Brittany Sparks, will be playing in their final game for the Red and White.

Eagles Fall to Lumberjacks in Overtime
For the fourth time this season, the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team fell victim to a golden goal in overtime, as the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona handed Eastern a 2-1 loss on Sunday (Oct. 24) in Cheney, Wash. The Eagles have now played in five overtime games this season, four of which have ended in heartbreaking fashion. The EWU record for overtime games in a single season is six, which occurred in 2008.

Battling heavy rains and high altitude, the Eastern Washington University soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Northern Colorado on Friday (Oct. 22) in Greeley, Colo. With the loss, Eastern drops to 2-12-1 overall and 2-3 in league play, while UNC improves to 10-4-2 on the season and 3-1-1 in Big Sky action. The Eagles will now make a quick turnaround, as they host Northern Arizona on Sunday, (Oct. 24) at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center playing fields.

Walker Named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week
Sophomore Jamie Walker was tabbed as the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office. Walker was recognized after a superior performance between the pipes in Eastern’s first two conference victories, and first victories overall this season, against Big Sky foes Idaho State and Weber State.

The Eastern Washington University soccer team dropped its first match of the 2010 Big Sky season, as the Vikings of Portland State blanked Eastern, 3-0 on Friday (Oct. 8) in Hillsboro, Ore. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-10-1 on the year and 0-1 in Big Sky action, while PSU improves its record to 5-7-1 and 1-0 in league play. The Vikings also earned the first point of in the newly created “Dam Cup” rivalry between Eastern Washington and Portland State.

The Eastern Washington University soccer team dropped its final non-conference matchup on Sunday (Oct. 3), as it fell to Gonzaga 2-1 in overtime. GU’s Cassie Geerdts netted the golden goal in the 99th minute of the game to give the Bulldogs the victory in Eastern’s fourth overtime game of the season. The Eagles drop to 0-9-1 on the year, while Gonzaga improves its overall record to 5-7-1.

Last year, the Eagles were selected eighth in the preseason rankings, but proved the pollsters wrong when they claimed runner-up honors in the regular season with an impressive 4-2-1 conference record.
