Women’s Soccer Focuses on Speed and Physicality with Addition of Seven New Players for 2013
After adding three local players to his roster in 2012, Eastern Washington University head women’s soccer coach George Hageage has continued to find the top talent of the Inland Northwest. Among the seven newcomers that make up EWU’s 2013 recruiting class, three hail from the Spokane area.

59 Selected to Fall All-Academic Team
A total of 59 Eastern Washington University student-athletes have been honored on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for fall quarter 2012. Of the total, 21 were from football, 18 were from women's soccer, nine from volleyball, six from women's cross country and five from men's cross country.

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team was one of just seven Division I programs this year to earn the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Ethics/Sportsmanship Award.

2012 SOCCER SEASON RECAP: Eagles Overcome Adversity for Best Win Percentage in Three Years
Overcoming adversity was the theme of the 2012 season for the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team, and the Eagles did just that. After concluding the 2011 season with a 2-13-1 overall record (1-5-1 Big Sky), the Eagles were picked eighth in the preseason polls. Only the two Big Sky newcomers, North Dakota and Southern Utah, ranked lower.

Cassie Black Named to Academic All-District VIII Team
Sophomore Cassie Black of the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team continues to haul in the postseason accolades. Already an All-Big Sky second team selection, Black was recently honored on the Capital One Academic All-District VIII Second Team, as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).

Sophomore forward Cassie Black has done it again. As a starter for the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team, Black’s offensive prowess is turning a lot of heads. After doubling her total number of season points this past weekend from four to nine, Black was recognized by both the Big Sky Conference and College Sports Madness as Offensive Player of the Week.

With momentum from three straight wins, the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team is in a good place headed into conference play. The Eagles will kickoff Big Sky competition against Weber State at 4 p.m. at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center Soccer Field in Cheney, Wash this Friday (Sept. 21). Conference action continues on Sunday (Sept. 23), when the Eagles take on Idaho State at 11 a.m.

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team improved its record once again with a 2-1 win against Hawai’i on Sunday (Sept. 16) at EWU Sports and Recreation Center Soccer Field in Cheney, Wash. The Eagles used a two-goal lead in the second half to secure their third win of the season.

This is the first-career biweekly honor for the Battle Ground, Wash., native.

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team was not fazed by the fact it was missing an experienced center midfielder, or that it had not won a match against Boise State in the 11 years the two teams have competed against one another. Instead, the red and white came out on the field on fire, handing the Broncos a 3-1 loss on Sunday (Sept. 9) at the Viking Classic at Hillsboro Stadium in Hillsboro, Ore.

Late Goal Lifts Aggies to 1-0 Victory Over Eastern
The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team faced defeat once again, this time at the hands of Utah State. The two teams battled to a 1-0 finish on Friday (Sept. 7) at the Portland State Viking Classic at Hillsboro Stadium in Hillsboro, Ore. Strong second-half efforts made by the Eagles were not enough to overcome a late goal secured by the Aggies.

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team will travel to the familiar Hillsboro Stadium this weekend – home of Big Sky Conference foe PSU. But this trip to Portland will not include a match against the Vikings. Instead, the opening round of the Viking Classic on Friday (Sept. 7) will find the Eagles matched up against Utah State at 6 p.m.

Wyoming scored an early goal in the first 10 minutes of play and hung on to the lead for a 4-1 win against the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team on Sunday (Sept. 2) at Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex in Laramie, Wyo.

Eagles Hold Off Falcons in 0-0 Tie
A double overtime battle between the Eagles and Falcons resulted in a 0-0 draw in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Cadet Soccer Stadium on Friday (Aug. 31). After remaining scoreless during regulation play, the Eagles were able to fend off overtime scoring attempts by the Falcons for the tie.

Looking for First Win, Eagles Travel to Air Force and Wyoming
After two competitive matches, the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team is hungry for its first win. The Eagles will have two opponents this weekend, as they travel to Air Force on Friday (Aug. 31) to take on the Falcons at Cadet Soccer Stadium at 3:30 p.m. PST. Two days later, the team will head north to Laramie, Wyoming for a match up against the Cowgirls at the Lois S. Madrid Sports Complex at 12 p.m. PST (Sept. 2).

After holding off the Redhawks for 65 minutes, the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team let a goal slip past that led to a 3-0 defeat for the Eagles on Sunday (Aug. 26) at Championship Field in Seattle, Wash.

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team lost to North Dakota State 3-2 in a closely-matched contest that came down to the final minutes Friday (Aug. 24) at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center Soccer Field in Cheney, Wash.

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team will kick off the 2012 season at home against North Dakota State this Friday (Aug. 24) at 4 p.m. in Cheney, Wash. Two days later, the team will make the trip over to the west side to take on Seattle University at Championship Field on Sunday (Aug. 26) at 1 p.m.

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team fought hard in their preseason exhibition match against in-state rival Washington State, but the Eagles came up short agaisnt a talented Cougar team. Eastern dropped the match, 2-0, on Friday (Aug. 17) at the Lower Soccer Field in Pullman, Wash.

It is an exciting year for the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer program. With an influx of 11 freshmen who joined the team in 2011 and another 11 newcomers in 2012, the women’s soccer team is on the move. After using the 2011 season to rebuild and re-evaluate, the Eagles have experienced a radical transformation of growth and development that has left them excited about the upcoming season.

Local Talent Dominates Eastern’s 2012 Recruiting Class
Eastern Washington University head women’s soccer coach George Hageage did not have to travel far to find the quality of person and player he desired for the program. Of the six new athletes who have signed national letters of intent to play soccer at Eastern starting in 2012, three are from the Spokane area, and another is a product of Lake City High School in Hayden, Idaho.
