Official Release | 2012 Statistics

The Eastern Washington women's soccer team has been tabbed eighth in the Big Sky preseason coaches poll, announced by the conference office Wednesday (Aug. 7).

The Eagles received 28 votes in this year's poll, nine behind seventh-place Sacramento State and 12 in front of ninth-place Southern Utah. Idaho State and Portland State tied for first with 68 votes, but the Bengals received four first-place votes to the Vikings' one. Both teams tied for first place last season as ISU went on to win the Big Sky Tournament. Rounding out the top five were Montana, Weber State and Northern Colorado. Both Montana and Weber State received a pair of first-place votes, showing just how open this year's conference race will be.

Northern Arizona placed sixth and received one first-place vote. North Dakota was tabbed to finish 10th.

EWU returns eight starters and welcomes back 18 letter winners from last year's squad that finished above .400 (6-8-4) for the first time since 2009. The Eagles went 3-3-3 in Big Sky play last season to finish in a tie for sixth place in the league standings after being picked to finish eighth.

Eastern will begin preparations for its 2013 campaign next week before opening the season at home against Gonzaga on Friday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m.
