The Eastern Washington University women's soccer team got off to a rough start to its 2008 campaign, as the Eagles dropped a 4-0 road decision to Boise State on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 24).
After the Broncos, who finished in a second-place tie in last year's Western Athletic Conference standings, took a 2-0 lead the Eagles came within a hair of cutting the lead in half when Jocelyn Bement had a breakaway, but the shot was pushed just wide.
"We had a hard time possessing the ball today," head coach George Hageage said. "Our defense was breaking down today instead of holding us strong.
"We are still tinkering with things and figuring out roles, and it may take a little longer to get everything sorted it."
The Eagles will next head to El Paso, Texas, to take part in the Miner Classic. Eastern Washington will play Louisiana-Lafayette (0-1-0) at 2 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday (Aug. 29) before facing Texas State (1-0-0) at 9 a.m. next Sunday.
